Roswell Explodes for 22 Runs in Win Over White Sands

May 27 2018 The Roswell Invaders defeated the White Sands Pupfish 22-16 in a high-scoring game at Griggs Park. Roswell collected 21 hits and scored in eight innings, while White Sands finished with 18 hits and seven errors. Roswell built a 7-3 lead after two innings and extended the margin with a six-run fourth inning. The Invaders added two runs in the sixth and two more in the eighth after the Pupfish scored four in the sixth and five in the eighth. Roswell then put the game away with four runs in the ninth. Louis Martini went 3-for-5 with four runs, three RBI and two home runs. Ed Reichenbach added four hits, four runs, three RBI and two home runs, while B. Portelli scored four runs and drove in three. Nolan Hoff, Gavin Lavallee and Austin Maltby each contributed two hits, with Lavallee also hitting a triple. White Sands received three hits from Aaron Sheaks and Josh Youngchild, while Timothy Carter drove in three runs and R. Jackson hit a three-run homer. Austin DeLozier earned the win despite allowing 11 hits and nine runs in 4.1 innings. He struck out five and walked three. Reichenbach recorded the save with 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing no hits and striking out one. Andrew Vlad took the loss for White Sands after giving up six runs, four earned, on five hits in three innings.
