An exceptional effort by Vincent Mejia hoisted the Roswell Invaders (45-15) to a 16-3 win over the White Sands Pupfish (25-35) on Tuesday at Aquarium.
Mejia rocked the White Sands Pupfish with two home runs. Mejia went 6-6 in the game with five RBIs and two runs scored. Mejia homered in the seventh inning.
The Roswell Invaders didnt let up, as they kept racking up runs until the end. The Roswell Invaders scored seven runs in the final three innings to cap the blowout win. The Roswell Invaders scored seven runs in the sixth on an RBI home run by Ed Kohout, a sacrifice fly by Erick Gaylord, a two-run double by Jimmy Brennaman, an RBI single by Ryan Normoyle, and a two-run double by Kohout.
It was a good day at the plate for the White Sands Pupfishs Cody Collins. Collins went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the fifth inning.
Mike Guinane got the win for the Roswell Invaders. He tossed one inning of shutout ball. Guinane struck out two, walked none and gave up one hit.
Justin Mauldin (1-5) took the loss for the White Sands Pupfish. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
