The White Sands Pupfish will hold its first annual golf tournament Friday June 28, 2013 at Desert Lakes Golf Course in Alamogordo at 2351 Hamilton Rd, Alamogordo, NM 88310.Cost is $75 per golfer. The Pupfish will offer a variety of prizes including tickets, jerseys and prizes including a Championship Baseball Bat the the Winner.
Desert Lakes, a public facility at the base of the Sacramento Mountains, features four sets of tees. The front nine is a tree-lined, parkland-style layout that highlights large greens with subtle undulations. The back nine, �the desert nine,� is cut out of Sonoran desert. Water hazards come into play on 11 of 18 holes. Alamogordo offers a year-round playing season, with summer highs in the 90s and moderate weather all winter long. Desert Lakes specializes in golf outings. Nearby are the towering gypsum sand dunes of White Sands National Monument, the Old West-style Oliver Lee State Park and the Space Hall of Fame. In early fall, hot-air balloons fill the sky as Alamogordo hosts the White Sands Balloon Festival.
