June 21 2012 The Las Cruces Vaqueros defeated the White Sands Pupfish 7-2 at Apodaca Park, using a 10-hit attack and a complete-game effort from Derek Johnson. The Vaqueros improved to 42-28 while White Sands fell to 27-42.
Las Cruces scored once in the third inning, added another run in the fifth and pushed across two in the sixth before breaking the game open with three runs in the seventh. White Sands scored both of its runs in the fourth inning. Logan Lotti went 2-for-4 with two runs, a home run and three RBI, while Steve Rinaudo added two hits, a home run, one run and three RBI. Trevor Whyte contributed a double and an RBI.
Johnson earned the win on June 21 2012 after allowing three hits and two earned runs in nine innings. He walked one and struck out five on 90 pitches. White Sands starter Kent Worthington took the loss after giving up 10 hits and seven earned runs in seven innings with two walks and nine strikeouts.
